Buffy and Angel burst on to TV like some sort of modern Rome and Juliet. He was a vampire and she the vampire slayer. What made him different was that he had a soul and in a way understood her the way that few others could. He wasn’t afraid to tell her when she was being a fool, and could always be by her side. Unlike her friends, she didn’t need to worry about him in battle. Their relationship between seasons 2 and 3 is beautiful, complex and heartbreakingly sad.
